Earlier this morning, the feature film Whiplash, produced by Champaign native Helen Estabrook, was nominated for five (count ’em, five) Academy Awards.
- Best Picture
- Best Actor in a Supporting Role: J.K. Simmons
- Best Adapted Screenplay: Damien Chazelle
- Best Film Editing: Tom Cross
- Best Sound Mixing: Craig Mann, Ben Wilkins, and Thomas Curley
