With support from the Urbana Public Arts program and the UC Independent Media Center, Shelley Masar and friends will offer The Ladder Dance to the public at the IMC (old post office in Urbana) on June 26th and 27th at 8 p.m., donations accepted.
The group has been imagining the world of cliff dwelling hunter and gatherers (think the Hopi people) at the moment of the death of a matriarch. The movement is improvised which challenges performance and features the strength and grace of Paul Littleton, a professional boxer, as well as other performers including Chantelle Hoagland and Shelley Masar. Jazz bassist Mikel Combs, will provide sound support along with the singing and toning by Lyndsey Scott and Lorraine Finkel.
