If you follow any Illinois Athletics social media accounts, or really, and local media of any kind, you’ve probably noticed that the Illini Men’s Golf team advanced to the NCAA final four competition, where they will, in all likelihood, wind up playing a golf team that hails from a place where winter doesn’t exist, making their winning ways all the more impressive.
What’s more impressive than the Illini’s rise to power, perhaps, is the hilarious tongue-in-cheek hashtag that has grown out of the U of I’s recent golf dominance – #GolfSchool.
Growing up, it was always highly contentious as to whether Illinois was a football school or a basketball school. Over the past 10 years or so, however, it’s become apparent that we are neither. Instead, we are a #GolfSchool, and damn proud of it.
