Nate Kinsella’s project Birthmark returns to C-U, this time at the Accord on Tuesday with Carate Urio and locals Marathon. Check out my interview with Kinsella from a few years back. You might remember the other band he’s in — American Football.

Local rock outfit Decadents celebrate the two year anniversary of their record, Elegantly Wasted, on Friday at Memphis, where they’ll do two sets.


WHAT: Backyard Jams (Kirkwood West + Reed Richards)

WHERE: The Accord (free before 11 p.m.)

WHEN: Friday, June 3rd at 10 p.m.

A couple of terrific local DJs, Kirkwood West and Reed Richards, will spin on the back patio at The Accord. Summertime is here.


WHAT: Homer Soda Festival

WHERE: Downtown Homer (free)

WHEN: Saturday, June 4th at 12 p.m.

Bones Jugs, Rebecca Rego & The Trainmen, King Tz, Hot Iron String Band, and Prairie Dogs are performing as a part of the Homer Soda Festival in Homer this weekend. They will have Americana music playing at the Main Street Stage all day long and Blues/Rock at the Car Show Stage from 12:30 p.m.-7 p.m.


WHAT: Klev vs. Kling

WHERE: The Accord (free)

WHEN: Saturday, June 4th at 9 p.m.

A guest bartender/DJ situation here featuring a couple of the local scene’s most recognizable and talented members: Klevah (of Mother Nature and her own outfit) and Andrew Kling (of The Dirty Feathers and Tang Dynasty).


WHAT: Pajama Jammy Jam

WHERE: Cowboy Monkey (free)

WHEN: Saturday, June 4th at 10 p.m.

The Ideal DJs, DJ KOW, DJ Cypherdevine, and DJ Belly, will be spinning all night at Cowboy.


WHAT: Terminus Victor, Bristle

WHERE: The Brass Rail

WHEN: Sunday, June 5th at 5 p.m.

Shows at the Brass Rail should happen more frequently, and this one will be a heavy dose of rock ‘n roll. The event listing says 5 p.m., but that doesn’t seem right to me — so know that much at least, that it could be a different time.
