New York’s Break Science has a packed schedule for the upcoming months, touring all over the place. They recently released their album Seven Bridges, and they’re making their rounds on the festival circuit this summer. They’re making a tour stop here in Urbana at Canopy Club this week. WHAT: Graves., History’s History, Alexander, The Science Of

WHEN: Thursday, March 13th at 8 p.m.

Bunch of emo / punk / acoustic outfits lined up for this bill on Thursday night at Error Records. Lead by a duo from Columbus, Ohio, Graves. and History’s History will be bringing the emo heat on this evening, as they are on tour with one another. The Science Of is out of Springfield, and Alexander is a local acoustic singer-songwriter. There will be a zine reading at 6:30 p.m. prior to the show, so if you’re interested in that, get on it early.

Four piece band Fresh Hops take over Mike ‘N Molly’s, as this is their first show in a string of dates throughout the month of March. Check them out while they’re in the area.

Great billing lineup for this week’s benefit for the University YMCA following everything that went down a few months back. A bunch of locals fill the bill to help raise money for the YMCA, and you can check out all the info above and over at the Facebook event page. Check out our recent interview with Dan Durley of the 92s prior to their album release show a couple weeks ago. Support a good cause and see some solid music here.

Fred Eaglesmith makes his retunr to C-U this weekend. His first album came out all the way back in 1980, and his blend of country, folk, Americana and bluegrass is the catch here.

Local black metal crew Ode Vinter take over this show with Wei Zhongle out of Chicago and Carbondale night. OV released their last album recently, and we gave it a look in last month’s B-Sides column. Joining them are John McCowen and Kakuru.

C-U’s Upshot will be performing at Cowboy Monkey on Friday night to get the weekend started out. They’ll be joined by opener Pete Stillwell, and Upshot will take over from there after he finishes up.

Bloomington’s Alex & the XO’s are a Ukulele fronted indie pop quintet, and they are heading things up over in Urbana at the IMC on Saturday evening. They’re joined by emcee Chase Baby, Ganache and Nathan Luft.

WHAT: The Number One Sons, The Great Crusades, The  Planeausters

The Number One Sons is a reunion of sorts, as it’s been five years since Benjamin Spoden (you might recognize him from the Curses) has performed under this moniker. He’ll be joind by Champaign’s the Great Crusades and the Planeausters.

Milwaukee’s Shut In are taking on Error Records on Saturday evening with the help of a few others. Locals Corcid, Meth Dealer, and St. Louis hardcore outfit Perfect People join in as well.

Jimbo Mathus takes over Cowboy Monkey on Saturday night, as he’s known around the Southern States as the ringleader of an outfit called Squirrel Nut Zippers. Huh. He’s joined by locals Cody & The Gateway Drugs and Hi Ho Buffalo.
