The Great Cover Up is the annual charity event at the HighDive at which local bands play a cover set… the catch is you don’t know what band they’re covering until they play! Here are this week’s lineups:

Indie-pop duo Generationals may be fron NOLA but they’re on our local label Polyvinyl.

Local singer-songwriter Justin Rondon will be on stage at Canopy Club this Friday, and at a very low price. 


WHAT: The Grifters, J Fernandez

WHERE: Cowboy Monkey ($15)

WHEN: Friday, January 16th at 10 p.m.

90s clothes are coming back in style, as is 90s music. The Grifters were there for it, putting out music on labels like Sub Pop in their heyday. The Memphis band is bringing that grunge tone back to Champaign where it’s never really left.


Mike N Molly’s ($5) — Saturday, January 17th, doors at 8 p.m.

Bryce Hays of local shoegaze band Withershins is releasing a tape called Dryads. This is the release show featuring Hays as Dr Responsible as well as stacked lineup of local instrumental noise artists — for only $5.

No Regrets Tattoos is presenting a metal show at Cowboy Monkey, which will feature bands from around central Illinois.
