The Illini played their final regular-season game at home this past Saturday. Wait… scratch that. The Illini tried to play their final regular season game, but Mother Nature ultimately had other plans.
The matchup against Nebraska was ultimately called and cancelled in the fourth inning after a rain delay lasting nearly two hours. Before the rains essentially cleared Illinois Field, a packed house was on hand to celebrate Senior Day and cheer their team on. Fortunately, Illinois had already secured its #1 seed going into the Big Ten Tournament, so the cancellation was of no consequence. The Illini will face off against these same Cornhuskers this Wednesday at Target Field in Minneapolis.
