Summer Session I means less shows and less options, but that doesn’t mean we’re without good ones. Smile Politely is throwing down again, Tuesday night at The Iron Post.

Brandon T.’s Beat Kitchen and Hopewell highlight what is supposed to be a slow week for music.

For the old-school crowd, it’s a high time: A former Didjit is in town and several late-’80s C-U greats reunite for a one-time affair, including Lonely Trailer and The Outnumbered. Plus the Poster Children!

This week it’s damn slow, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t check out underground post-rock from Brooklyn-via-Detroit, or underground hip hop from your own backyard. Oh, and we’re throwin’ down, too.

It’s a huge week for shows in C-U, from a midweek gig from Dan Deacon and George Clinton to a couple of weekend bluegrass concerts, with a healthy dose of local showcases mixed in. Dan Deacon update inside.
