It’s hard to believe, but outdoor market season is coming to a close at the end of October. If you want to get your Market at the Square fix, make sure to get over to Illinois and Vine soon.
I’ve talked about mid to late July being the market sweet spot in terms of produce, but October offerings are worth a glance. Squash varieties are especially plentiful, and are an easy item to stock up on. They look pretty sitting on the counter, and they last quite a while. I have a Blue Moon Farm butternut squash on my counter, patiently waiting to become a delicious soup.
Check out this month’s Market Watch for a great run down of what you can find as the season wraps up. The market is open from 7 a.m. to noon.
