The beloved University of Illinois Alma Mater sculpture has been gone nearly two years for restoration. The sculpture returns Wednesday, April 9th.
The Alma Mater trio is expected to arrive between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The process is expected to take 2 to 4 hours. If you don’t happen to have anything scheduled mid-morning, you can view the event on site. For a creepier, work-friendly option, watch it all on the Alma Mater webcam.
The base of the Alma Mater sculpture will hold a time capsule, telling generations to come that “those from the past send greetings!” Some of those greetings are on DVD, so I think the time capsule will need to be opened 5 years ago…
