Vermillion Place hosting night of entertainment Friday, August 9

Vermilion Place, downtown Danville, to host a night of entertainment: rock, comedy, literature and food.
 
Join us at Vermilion Place (14 North Hazel, Danville) on Friday, August 9, 2013, for a family friendly evening of music, comedy, literature and food! The event will take place outdoors, in Vermilion Place’s stunning Mardi Gras Courtyard.
 
Cover charge is $6, children under 15 are free. Doors will open at 6:00 pm, entertainment starts at 7:30. Vermilion Place will be serving jambalaya, grilled burgers, hot dogs, pie, ice cream; drinks: soda, coffee, tea and lemonade. 
 
Appearing all night: Miss Illinois International 2013, Season Winesburg!
 
Season was crowned Miss Illinois International on March 3, 2013 in Gurnee, IL. Season’s platform is Go Red For Women Promoting Heart Health. She also has her personal platform of ALS. Since receiving the title of Miss Illinois International, Season has spent her time traveling the state making numerous appearances and speaking engagements. Season looks forward to returning to the Danville area in August and hopes to make many return trips to the area that is rich with history. 
 
 
Performing from 7:30-10:30: The Seventeen Sisters
 
Taking inspiration from the greats old and new mixed with their own innovative style, Seventeen Sisters is an infusion of edgy driving rock and soul, with a slight touch of pop. Playing what they term “eclectic rock,” Seventeen Sisters presents a new brand of rock, combining strong female vocals and sibling harmonies with driving rock instrumentals. If you haven’t seen the rock spectacle that is The Seventeen Sisters, the Mardi Gras Courtyard at the Vermilion Place will be the perfect venue to introduce yourself to this amazing group of girls!

Performing two sets of stand-up comedy: Charlie Hester.
 
Charlie Hester is an actress, artist, blogger and amazing comedienne. Charlie can’t sleep without wearing a hat (or having her toes crossed), she has an unhealthy obsession with Mod Podge and she enjoys naming inanimate objects. Charlie can be seen in Sleepy Creek Vineyards’ comedy series, Up the Creek, and her own webseries featured on the website of Jonathan Katz (Dr. Katz, Home Movies). Vermilion Place is proud and honored to be hosting the fun, unique and family-friendly comedy stylings of Charlie Hester. 
 
The evening will also host book signing by two local award-winning authors!
 
Children’s book author and illustrator Mary Anne Lipousky-Butikas will be signing her collection of whimsical books: Aunt Martha’s BunA Piece of CakeThe Naught Knot andScooter & Cupcake (which recently received Honorable Mention at the 2013 Hollywood Book Festival).  Mary Anne’s diverse artwork has been published and exhibited nationally through the National Watercolor Society and Transparent Watercolor Society.  In addition, she holds Signature status with both the Illinois and Missouri Watercolor Societies.  She has also been published by North Light Books in Splash 6.  Her children’s books can be seen at: www.amazon.com/author/malipouskybutikas
