LIFE IS A CYCLE BIKE RIDE SCHEDULED FOR MAY 20TH

URBANA – Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. As part of National Bike Month (May), the City of Urbana and My City Bikes will be hosting a group bike ride.

My City Bikes has teamed up with 18 cities nation-wide to host the Life is a Cycle beginner-friendly bike ride series throughout the month.

Participants will get hands-on (and feet-on) experience pedaling around town on a lowstress route through Urbana’s neighborhoods and parks. Riders will experience Urbana’s bike lanes, streets, side paths, and trails, all while being led by experienced riders.

For those interested, meet at Urbana’s Market at the Square and bring a bike and helmet. Arrive early for a complimentary bike check and quick safety demo by a League Certified Instructor from the League of American Bicyclists.  At 9:30 a.m. the ride will commence; riders have two options of a six- or nine-mile route (60 or 90 minutes). Refreshments and a free t-shirt will be available after the ride.

Event proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association. Be sure to preregister at LIFEISACYCLE.BIKE to receive the discounted entrance fee of $1.50. The fee will increase to $5.00 the day of the event.

The City of Urbana is a Gold-Level Bicycle-Friendly Community, as designated by the League of American Bicyclists.  Do not miss the chance to ride on some of the paths and trails that the City has to offer! For more information visit LIFEISACYCLE.BIKE.
