City of Urbana Public Arts Program Releases the 2013–14 Call for Entries for “Murals on Glass”

The City of Urbana Public Arts Program and the Urbana Business Association are pleased to release the 2013–14 Call for Entries for the second cycle of Murals on Glass. Murals on Glass is a unique creative placemaking initiative that features artwork by Champaign County artists on windows in historic downtown Urbana. The display sites for the 2013–14 Murals on Glass will be the Urbana Business Association office windows on Main Street, the south windows of the Urbana Parking deck on Elm Street, and the east facing windows of the Urbana Civic Center at 108 E Water Street. The selected pieces will be reproduced in adhesive vinyl and adhered to the windows on these locations, remaining on display for a period of one year. The artist of each selected piece will be awarded an honorarium of $150. Through the arts, Murals on Glass creates exhibition opportunities for local artists and contributes to beautification efforts in downtown Urbana. Current Murals on Glass displays can be seen at the following locations: the Urbana Business Association office windows on Main Street and the northeast and south windows of the Parking Deck located between Main Street, Broadway Avenue, and Elm Street.

The 2013–14 Murals on Glass Call for Entries Guidelines are available here. All applications must be submitted online by 5:00 p.m. CST on July 15, 2013 to be considered.
