Supper with the Super | Stratton Elementary School | March 1 | 6 p.m. | Free
One of the things that teachers, students and families in the Unit 4 school district asked for when the school board started looking for a new superintendent was someone who would go out of their way to engage the community. So it may be with this in mind that newly appointed superintendant, Judy Wiegand, has extended an invitation that you join her for supper this Thursday at Stratton Elementary School.
While this gesture does not address the kind of wide scale community engagement needed in the the district, as a graduate of Central High School and a teacher in the district, I can say that it absolutely feels like a step in the right direction. So if you’re a student, a parent, a teacher or a stakeholder in the Unit 4 community, swing on by, eat some cafeteria food, come ready to talk and don’t pull your punches — there’s plenty on the table to discuss.
