Fighting Illini and White Sox Team Up in Promotional Events
CHAMPAIGN, IL — The University of Illinois and Chicago White Sox have formed a cross-promotional relationship where Illini fans will receive special offers to selected games, suites, group sales, patio parties and a special Illini Day on Friday, June 1, when Illini fans will have the opportunity to participate in a pregame parade and show their orange, whileenjoying a fireworks display after the game.
“We are very excited to announce our relationship with the White Sox,” UI athletics director Mike Thomas said. “We feel this will increase Fighting Illini exposure in Chicago, and allow some great opportunities forfans to experience exciting Major League baseball at U.S. Cellular Field.”
In addition, the White Sox will promote Illinois athletics, and special incentives to White Sox fans, regarding Illini athletic events.
“This is among the first of several cross-promotional relationships coming from the Illini and organizations in Chicago,” Thomas said.
