There’s a judicial candidates forum on September 14th

There is one contested judicial race in this election cycle, for the seat vacated by Heidi Ladd, who retired in 2020.

The Republican candidate, Sam Limentato, was appointed to fill her seat for the remainder of the term. Chad Beckett, the Democratic candidate, is a lawyer practicing in Urbana. He previously ran for the sixth circuit in 2018, losing to Randy Rosenbaum. That race was for a seat representing multiple counties. This contest will be decided solely by voters in Champaign County.

The League of Women Voters, in partnership with the NAACP, Women’s Law Society, and The News-Gazette, is hosting a candidate forum on Wednesday, September 14th at 6 p.m. You can attend in person at the U of I College of Law, room D. You can also join via Zoom: Meeting ID: 817 2218 0267 and Password: 709008.

Have questions for the candidates? You can submit them here.
