The inventor of the LED light will be the Parade of Lights Grand Marshal

That’s pretty perfect, right? Nick Holonyak Jr., three time graduate of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois, created the first visible light-emitting diode (so yeah, that’s the first time I’ve ever learned what LED actually stands for) in 1962. Seems only fitting that he would head of a parade full of LED lights.

There will be a reception on Tuesday, November 26th at 10 a.m. at Clark-Lindsey Village, where the retired professor lives with his wife, to celebrate this distinction.

You can find all of the details about the Parade of Lights, which is happening on Saturday, November 30th, at the Champaign Center Partnership website
