This pandemic summer has us all looking for new things to get us out of the house in a safe way. If there’s one silver lining, it’s finding some of these gems that I may not have taken the time to explore otherwise.
This week I took the kids (who are teenagers, so really all ages can enjoy this) to L&A Family Farms in Paris. I had no idea this place existed, and found it to be a delightful diversion on a beautiful day.
It takes about an hour and 20 minutes to get there from C-U, but don’t we all have some extra time these days? Typically the main draw is their sunflower maze. The sunflower field is still there, but they’ve carved a single, one way path through them to minimize interaction with other groups. Of course not as thrilling as a maze, but it was still pretty cool to immersed in this sea of sunflowers.
What makes the trip even more worth it is their food truck, where they sell all sorts of fair food delicacies: corn dogs, lemon shake ups, fried oreos, and the like. The owners are very diligent about masks and distancing and such when you pay for admission and concessions. Their farm store is not open, but they’ve brought some items outside for you to purchase.
