Tacool serves Mexican cuisine in Campustown

A new Mexican restaurant called Tacool just opened in Campustown.

The restaurant’s menu includes tacos, tortas, nachos, quesadillas, burritos, flautas, corn, and sides. The meat options are simple: steak, pastor, or chicken.

The interior is small, but there are tables and bar seating for dine in. All food is packaged to go, so takeout is convenient as well. I ordered chips and guac plus a few other things.

The chips were fried to order and absolutely delish. I ordered chicken flautas ($9) which came with five filled with pulled chicken. The flautas were topped with sour cream, chopped tomatoes, and shredded lettuce. The rolled tortilla was crispy, but the chicken was a little dry. The sour cream helped and so did the thick salsas.

I also tried two tacos ($5.50), one steak and one pork. The pastor was a savory diced pork filling, and the other taco had tender chunks of medium rare steak with so much flavor. Get the steak, for sure. TACOOL tacos come Mexican style like this or American style on a crunchy shell with tomatoes, lettuce, and cheese.
