Surprising no one, Rodney Davis votes to protect extremist Republicans

The House of Representatives just voted to strip Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) of her committee appointments over disturbing comments she made regarding (among other things) her support for executing prominent Democrats, her belief that the Sandy Hook shooting was a hoax, and that the California wildfires were started by a Jewish space laser (no, really).

Eleven Republicans joined Democrats in this effort. Rodney Davis was not among them.

There’s a lot of things that one could say about that.

Obviously you can go for the low-hanging fruit here and say that his decision to protect a dangerous extremist like Rep. Greene goes against everything Davis has ever said re: civility and bipartisanship, and that this is just the latest in a long line of staggeringly hypocritical political decisions made by a vacuous and uninspiring coward that hasn’t met a moral he’s not prepared to immediately jettison if it will keep him in politics because his only real skill is an utter lack of conscience, but it’s more than that.

Just kidding, that’s it.

He was asked about the decision on Springfield radio station WMAY, and responded the GOP is a “big tent” and not everyone in the Republican caucus has to agree with each other.

If your tent is big enough to include white supremacists and people who think Jews start wildfires with space lasers, maybe your tent is just a tad too big.
