Shop locally for Mother’s Day

In case you have no idea what day it is, here is a gentle reminder that Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 10th. Yeah, I forgot, too.

If you celebrate, there are plenty of ways to do that while supporting local businesses. Order some baked goods from Hopscotch, or Art Mart, or Rick’s Bakery. Everyone (and their mothers) is on a cinnamon bun kick; why not order some from Sweet Indulgence? How about a fancy goat cheese basket from Prairie Fruits Farm?

If flowers are your thing, check Delight Flower Farm and Illinois Willows and Fleurish; you can also find bouquets at Common Ground Food Co-op, Hopscotch, and Harvest Market.

You might not be able to share a meal with your mom or family, but you can buy her/them a meal. Call ahead to place an order for delivery, if applicable, or for them (or you) to pick up.

You can use these same methods if your mother isn’t here in C-U. Spend a couple of minutes looking into the local flower shops and restaurants that are near (and dear) to her.

How will you be celebrating the mothers in your life?
