Quentin Snider to announce college choice tonight

Hold on to your butts, Illini hoops fans. According to ZagsBlog, four-star recruit Quentin Snider is announcing his college choice this evening.

The Louisville native (who originally commited to his hometown school but decommitted when they inked another 2014 point guard) narrowed his list of schools down to seven recently, but it appears only two schools are left in the running: UCLA and Illinois.

Snider visited the Bruins’ campus Labor Day weekend and then travelled to Illinois last weekend. Both coaches, Steve Alford and John Groce, followed up this week with in-home visits. Snider had planned to visit Michigan State this weekend (suck it, Izzo) and UConn later this month, but apparently no longer has any need to see what those schools might offer.

There is palpable excitement over this decision among the Orange and Blue faithful after Groce’s successful recruitment of fellow 2014 standout Leron Black just two weeks ago. Adding to the hype is the fact that Snider and Aaron Cosby, who transferred from Seton Hall to Illinois this spring, are good buddies.

Of course, Illini fans might be setting themselves up for disappointment, but they won’t know for sure until this evening. Snider’s father said he was unsure if the decision would be announced by press conference or some other means. Best bet: keep your eyes on the ZagsBlog twitter feed.
