University of Illinois professor of comparative and world literature and director of the Initiative in Holocaust, Genocide, and Memory Studies, Brett Ashley Kaplan, has penned her first novel. Rare Stuff will be available August 1st (but you can pre-order). Per the Illinois News Bureau article about the release, the novel “tells the story of a daughter’s search for answers about her mother’s disappearance, as well as a magical realism tale of Yiddish-speaking whales trying to save the planet.”
