The Champaign Farmers Market, Urbana’s Market at the Square, and Urbana Business Association’s Market in the Square have worked in collaboration with Champaign-Urbana Public Health to create a plan that will allow the markets to exist while keeping community members and vendors as safe as possible.
They will not look or feel like they usually do. They won’t be places to gather and wander. Basically, you’ll be expected to treat it like your typical COVID-19 era grocery shopping trip (or like you should be treating your grocery shopping trip) with distancing guidelines, shopping solo, wearing a mask, etc. But, this will allow local farms and food producers to continue to get their products to the community.
You can find the full list of guidelines here. Urbana’s Market at the Square opens on May 2nd. Champaign Farmers Market opens on May 19th.
