Orange Krush, the student support group of the Fighting Illini basketball team, has earned national acclaim for its work as a charity foundation. Each fall, Orange Krush distributes the money it raised from the previous basketball season. In 2011, the Orange Krush Foundation allocated a total of $180,500 across 63 charities and toward the endowment of Lou Henson Coaching Development Fund. Since its inception in 1988, the Orange Krush has donated over $2 million to charity.
Orange Krush is still accepting grant applications for this fall, with a deadline of Friday, Aug. 10. Any organization that qualifies as a 501C-3 is eligible to apply. Interested organizations should visit IlliniPride.com to download the grant application, or email McKennon Biers for more information.
