Opening Reception for 2012 FACET Art Show & Concert

The 2012 FACET Art Show & Concert will happen on Thursday, September 6th, at the indi go Artist Co-Op, with the opening reception at 6:00 p.m. and the concert beginning at 7:00 p.m.

FACET came together six years ago and will host a big annual event in September (during Hunger Action Month) with 100% of the proceeds going to the BackPack Program of the Eastern Illinois Foodbank.

The BackPack Program combats hunger by providing weekend groceries for children, distributed through local schools via backpacks on Friday afternoons, ensuring students return to school on Mondays fed and ready to learn. The program can feed one child for the whole school year for $200.00. For the next school year (2012/2013), BackPack Program will provide support for over 1,000 children in our community. That is a significant jump from the 715 children sponsored last year.

Last year FACET had a $5,000 fundraising goal and ended up raising over $7,600. This year marks our 6th Anniversary fighting childhood hunger in our community and our goal is to raise $5,000 again.

The annual FACET Event includes the FACET Art Show & Concert and the traditional FACET Bake Sale (which includes a wide selection of true off-the-beaten-path goodies!).

The 2012 FACET Art Show & Concert brings “40 Years of Glass Art” by Richard Taylor (owner of Glass FX), and also the “Functional Pottery” by June Volkening.

The concert portion of the evening will featuring mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Buckley. Her performance will crown the evening following four musical acts from very talented young musicians from Champaign-Urbana. Admission is free and we appreciate your voluntary contribution to help us reach our $5,000 goal. The FACET Events include a Raffle Auction featuring products, art, and services from several local businesses. This year we have over 40 items to be raffled off, including one of Richard Taylor’s glass art pieces and a pottery piece from June Volkening. Tickets for the Raffle Auction will be available for purchase during the Art Show and all the items will be showcased. Winners will be drawn by the Director of the Eastern Illinois Foodbank, at the 2012 FACET Bake Sale on Saturday, September 8th at the Market At The Square.
