Moon Grove Farm’s B&B Opens Memorial Day Weekend

Mahomet, IL (May 1, 2018) — Mike and Jen Quinlan announce the opening of Moon Grove Farm, a farmhouse bed-and-breakfast and you-pick flower farm in Mahomet, IL. Starting Memorial Day weekend, Moon Grove’s B&B will be available for weekend stays in a restored farmhouse originally built in the late 1800’s. The flower farm will open later this summer.

“We serve small groups looking to get away for a relaxing experience, without having to drive too far,” said Jen Quinlan. “Our guests want something more than staying in a hotel. We offer the comfort of renting a house combined with the personal touches of a B&B. It is the best of both worlds.”

The rental includes three bedrooms with queen-sized beds, a private full bathroom, spacious living room outfitted with antiques, and a covered porch that overlooks an herb garden. The Quinlans live on the property and prepare a fresh breakfast for guests consisting of locally sourced ingredients where possible such as chevre cheese from Prairie Fruits Farm and Creamery, meat from Bane Family Meats, baked goods from Lucky Moon Pies and More or coffee from Page Roasting.

The Quinlans have seen strong interest not only from Central Illinois residents, but also from nearby metros. “When we lived in larger cities, Jen and I often wanted to get the heck out of town on the weekends and be around plants and animals,” said Mike Quinlan. “So far, we’ve received a decent quantity of inquiries from people in Chicago and St. Louis with ties to Champaign-Urbana. Whether it’s to attend a football game or farm-to-table dinner in the area, we’re seeing demand for rural weekend getaways,” said Mike Quinlan.

The property’s history dates back to the late 1890’s as the Dickson Farm. The family owned the property up through the late 1990’s. The property was later renovated by Katie Kenney and Michael Vogel. The restoration project received a Heritage Award from Preservation and Conservation Association in 2013.

“We’re proud to carry on the property’s legacy and share it with the next generation,” said Jen Quinlan. “Between the B&B and flower farm opening later this summer, we intend to offer a variety of ways for the community to get to know Moon Grove Farm, enjoy the space and experience a small-scale farm.”

Moon Grove Farm is located at 2702 N. 1500 East Road, Mahomet, IL. To learn more about staying at Moon Grove’s B&B, please visit https://moongrovefarm.com/.
