Krannert announces 2009-10 events

The Krannert Center for the Performing Arts announced their 2009-10 “Marquee Season” today. You can download a word document of the release here, or just be content with the folllowing highlights until the calendar is up on the Krannert Center website:

  • Opening night of the 2009-10 season is Thursday, September 10, which is also the first night of the Third Biennial Guitar Festival. Details for the Guitar Festival will be released next Monday, June 15.
  • Featured classical music performers will include: “Nathan Gunn, Julie Gunn, and Yvonne Gonzáles Redman … the Orchestra de São Paulo with percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie, Vladimir Feltsman, vocalists Nicole Cabell and Frederica von Stade, the Moscow State Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra with pianist Lang Lang, and the young artists of the Sunday Salon Series, including Sphinx Competition Winner Elena Urioste and the 2010 Krannert Center Debut Artist.”
  • Pygmalion will again have a performance at Krannert, featuring event headliner Iron and Wine.
  • Theatrical works will include Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya (in Russian! performed by Russians!) and Mikel Rouse’s new Gravity Radio.

Season tickets go on sale July 16.
