Homer Soda Festival happening May 31st

The Homer Soda Festival is back again this year with their 2nd annual installment of the festival. Here’s the information from the press release, plus some information about vendors at the festival below that.

Homer Soda Fest Returns To Showcase Bottled Sodas

Champaign, IL – Following its successful, inaugural festival in 2013, the Homer Soda Company will offer the 2nd Annual Homer Soda Fest, Saturday, May 31, 10 a.m.–7:30 p.m. in downtown historic Main St. in Homer.

Showcasing 250 glass-bottled sodas, the festival expands the taste buds as you taste unique and interesting flavors. Homer Soda Company owner, Kate Boyer explains, “We find these regional sodas that are found from Washington State to Maine and bring them all to Homer. Many of these brands have been in business for 100 years or more, but are seldom spotted outside their area. Although some of these sodas are old favorites of your grandparents, many are brand new gourmet brands sweetened with stevia or honey!  It’s such a blast trying all these really interesting flavors, and coming out to such an inclusive event brings together generations of family!”

The summer festival is the time to try Dang Butterscotch Root Beer, Cheerwine, Prickly Pear, or an Americana Huckleberry soda. Festival-goers can sample any of the 250 sodas on hand for 25¢ each, or purchase a VIP pass for unlimited samples for only $20. VIP passes are currently available for advance purchase.

“Last year’s event brought in hundreds of people anxious to reminisce about summer days of old,” said Jayne DeLuce, President & CEO of Visit Champaign County. “We are excited it’s returning for a second year to give all those who missed out last year an opportunity to discover a truly unique event in Champaign County.”

In addition to the soda, the festival features barbeque through their Brick Street BBQ Cook Off, featuring local eats competing for a trophy. Throughout the day, Bluegrass and Americana bands will entertain the crowd as they wander down Main St. checking out the Sundowners Car Show and visiting with a variety of local vendors.

Additional information about the family-friendly festival, including a list of available sodas, can be found online at http://homersoda.com/fest

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

To help the day run smoothly, the festival is in need of approximately 100 volunteers to help pour sodas for tastings. Anyone willing to volunteer can sign up online at http://homersoda.com/fest
