Help the Champaign County Forest Preserves with garlic mustard

The Champaign County Forest Preserve District is calling for volunteers to help rid their natural areas of garlic mustard. After about two weeks, the plants will begin to seed and further invade the preserves. From their Facebook post:

It is important to try and get as close to the base as possible to remove the entire plant and root system from the ground. We ask that you bring your own bucket or bag to completely remove the plant from the area. Garlic mustard will continue to grow and produce seed even after out of the ground.

Clearing is needed at Homer Lake, Middle Fork, River Bend, Sangamon River, and Lake of the Woods. Check out their Facebook page for maps of each preserve, and areas where you will likely find the plants. You can email ewilliams@ccfpd.org for more information.
