The Volunteer Income Task Assistance Program offers an opportunity for low to moderate income households, seniors over the age of 60, limited English speaking taxpayers, and those with disabilities to receive help preparing their tax returns.
Through the program, students in the Department of Accountancy work in teams to prepare the returns and then go over them with the clients. All of this will be done virtually this year.
Beginning February 18th, those interested in participating can drop off their tax materials at Salt and Light in Urbana between the hours of 1-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and between 1-5 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The program operates on a first come first serve basis, and they will accept documents until all slots are full.
