If you ever travel over the I-74 bridge on Prospect, you’ve probably noticed the big lighted sign warning you about a construction project beginning June 3rd. As of today, that particular bridge will be one lane in either direction, setting us all up for major congestion and delays. What’s super fun, is that this will be the case until November.
Now, you could just vow to never go to North Prospect. However, as much as I tried to avoid it, I keep getting drawn there for one reason or another, whether it’s grocery shopping, or a movie, or something I MUST GET at Target, or my most frequent destination, Ulta.
Because of where I live, it’s already been my habit to use Mattis to connect to this retail area via Interstate Drive or Anthony Drive. Anthony is going to spit you out right a bit too close to the mess, so Interstate is going to be your best option if you’re coming from the west. The City of Champaign is also recommending using Olympian Drive from the north, and Neil and Market Streets from the east.
You can find out more about the project on the city’s IDOT Information Sharing site.
