Grammy-award winning musician Leyla McCalla is performing tonight, Friday, October 21st, as part of the CU Folk and Roots Festival. Oh, and her performance at Allen Hall is free.
What a treat.
Much of her new album is influenced by research she conducted at Duke University’s Radio Haiti archive. The music is moving and so politically and culturally relevant, and connects not only to her Haitan ancestry, but also to this particular moment in time for both Haiti and the United States.
Get ready for her performance tonight by checking out this recent NPR Tiny Desk Concert. It’s amazing.
