First Followers hosting panel discussion on supporting the recently incarcerated this Saturday

From the press release:

(Urbana)  Members of First Followers, a local community group that offers support and guidance to the formerly incarcerated, will host an upcoming panel discussion about the book Becoming Ms. Burton.  The book describes the author Susan Burton’s inspiring journey from prison to recovery to fighter in the struggle to build a movement of formerly incarcerated people.

Burton has built the most successful reentry program in the country – a chain of transition houses in Los Angeles called A New Way of Life.  Members of First Followers will reflect on the book and strategize about ways to develop these programs in our own community.  The event will take place on Saturday, July 1 from 5 – 7pm at the Independent Media Center, 202 S. Broadway, Urbana and will include light refreshments.

The group’s website is here:  http://www.firstfollowersreentry.com/
