Donate your garden bounty to Solidarity Gardens

It’s about that time when all of those gardens we planted at the beginning of the summer are starting to overflow with tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, and such. Since there’s only so much salsa and marinara and zucchini bread and refrigerator pickles you can make, why not donate some of the excess to those in need in our community.

Solidarity Gardens, which launched back in June to help address food insecurity in C-U, will take your produce donations. Sola Gratia Farm has a drop off bin at 2200 S. Philo Road, and they’ve even posted a handy video showing how to do it.

Your donations will be incorporated with their weekly deliveries to Eastern Illinois Foodbank, Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, Jubilee Cafe, Cornerstone Fellowship free food market, and Lierman Neighborhood Community Garden.
