Community Supported Film hopes to fill the Art Theater void

We’ve all mourned the loss of a venue for independent and obscure films since the Art Theater closed back in October. Now, a group of film enthusiasts has formed a new group, Community Supported Film, to help fill that void. They are a non-profit organization, and will need to do fundraising to pay venue and licensing fees.

They plan to hold free monthly screenings at the Independent Media Center and Channing Murray Foundation, so fellow film buffs can gather together and watch independent movies in a community setting. Their first event will be March 28th at 7 p.m. at the IMC, and they will be showing Be Kind Rewind a 2008 comedy starring Jack Black and Mos Def.
