Champaign County Forest Preserve District will have in person activities for kids this summer

If you have kids aged 3-17, the Champaign County Forest Preserve District has an in person option for them.

Preschoolers and a parent or guardian can try out Nature Explorers on June 2nd and 9th from 9:30 to 11 a.m., where they will hear a story, go on a hike, and do some hands-on activities. The first session is at Homer Lake, and the second is at Lake of the Woods.

On Wednesdays from June 16th to July 28th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the Wilderness Explore program is happening at various forest preserves. The first three Wednesdays are for 8 to 11 year olds, and the latter three are for 6 to 8 year olds. There are sessions at Homer Lake, Lake of the Woods, or Middle Fork, depending on the week.

Each individual session is $10, and should be registered for separately at the CCFPD website.

If you have a young golfer, Lake of the Woods will have a golf camp July 12-15 for kids aged 10-17. It runs from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day, and is $100 per golfer. Email lakeshop@ccfpd.org or call 217-586-2183 to register.

COVID protocols will be in place. You can see what those are here.
