Centennial High School Interact Club is hosting the 11th annual Austin Cloyd Day of Service

Austin Cloyd, a Centennial graduate and victim of the Virginia Tech shooting, was the inspiration for this annual day of service, where high school students and community members provide volunteer work for various non-profit organizations. You can sign up to help here. From the press release:

“AUSTIN’S DAY”
AUSTIN CLOYD DAY OF SERVICE
SATURDAY, APRIL 14th, 2018

In an effort to honor Austin Cloyd’s commitment to community service, Centennial High School is proud to announce the eleventh annual Austin Cloyd’s Day of Service. Austin Cloyd grew up in Champaign ­Urbana and was a member of Interact while at Centennial. She was unfortunately a victim of the Virginia Tech shooting on April 16th, 2007. The Interact Club strives to continue her legacy through community service. The public is invited to participate and volunteer in this event on April 14th from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Shifts will run in two hour time slots from 9:30-11:30, 11:30-1:30, and 1:30-3:30. Some of the organizations that will be involved in Austin’s Day are:

  • Courage Connection
  • Crisis Nursery
  • Champaign County Humane Society
  • Unit 4 School District
  • Champaign Public Library
  • Champaign Urbana Nursing and Rehab
  • Champaign County Nursing home
  • Salt and Light

Walk-ins welcome!

Austin’s Day volunteers should meet in the building by the north parking lot at Champaign Centennial High School, 913 S. Crescent Street. Registration begins at 9:00am. The first 150 volunteers get a free t-shirt!
