From the press release:

Buy Black Chambana announces Black Owned Business Fund

Champaign-Urbana, IL — Buy Black Chambana is proud to announce the launch of the Black Owned Business Fund. Have you been wanting to help our local Black community but haven’t been sure how? We have a great option available now.

We are now accepting donations to fund the resources we need to make a greater impact on the community. Funds will be used to help black-owned businesses that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and systemic racism. They will be used to make sure Black-owned businesses meet the proper financial and legal requirements (forming a LLC, partnerships, etc). Resources will be used to continually help create an online and community presence through various marketing efforts ensuring businesses are on the proper platforms to be found online (creating websites, google my business, social media accounts, and billboard signage). Additionally, funds will be used to offer our businesses free tax preparers at the end of the year. You may notice that these are the basic requirements for businesses to apply for a grant and/or a loan. We will optimize Black-owned businesses so they can truly access the resources that are current while creating as many opportunities as we can together.

It’s only a matter of time before we burn out from marching the streets—that’s not sustainable. We need to transition our minds to the next phase: organizing and supporting local grassroots programs that counter the effects of systemic racism. This includes helping local programs to eliminate food deserts in Black communities, support Black mentorship programs, fund youth scholarships, supporting local Black-owned businesses, and more.

We have Black neighborhoods but now we need to create a Black community and that can only be done with self sustainable Black-owned businesses to generate community wealth.

The donations will be streamlined through Venmo (@BuyBlackChambana) and Cash App (@BuyBlackChambana) where they will then be allocated appropriately to Black owned businesses in our community.
