Boneyard Creek Improvements Project: February Update

For those of you curious as to the progress of the massive renovation/construction project on and around Race Street in Urbana (directly behind the Station Theatre and beside Silver Creek restaurant), it would appear that no news is snow news…

Per a release from the City of Urbana:

“Due to cold, snowy weather, no significant project work occurred during January 2014. Minimal progress is expected in February as unfavorable weather is forecast to persist. Weather permitting, work in February may include: construction of the new wood deck for the trestle pedestrian bridge; setting the remaining stone marker on the Broadway Avenue Bridge; shaping the south side of the creek channel; and concrete work on the remaining walls.

“A temporary aggregate sidewalk surface installed on the west side of Race Street is providing pedestrian access along Race Street and the contractor is repairing wheel ruts in the Race Street railroad crossing as needed over the winter.
