Annual MLK Day of Service at Books to Prisoners

Urbana-Champaign Books to Prisoners is once again participating in the Champaign County Community Wide Day of Service.

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday January 18th, we will have a volunteer session in our workroom from 1-3 p.m. The workroom is located in the basement of the IMC Building in Urbana (aka the old Urbana Post Office, 202 S. Broadway).

At the volunteer session, you can expect to receive a brief orientation to the B2P program, then read letters from inmates in Illinois prisons, find books from our collection to meet their request, and package the books up with a note to send to the inmate.

If you have MLK day free, this is a great way to spend a couple hours. Get involved with this volunteer-powered, community-based organization and give something to those in our society who are often forgotten.

Any questions can be sent to Lolita at lolita@books2prisoners.org.
