Amnesty International-UIUC chapter to host events for Sexual Assault Awareness Week

From the press release:

The University of Illinois chapter of Amnesty International will host three events in three days leading up to a SlutWalk at 5 p.m., Thursday, April 4. The events will be open to the public — students and non-students alike.

SlutWalk! – Thursday, April 4, 5 p.m., Anniversary Plaza

Founded in 2011 in response to a police officer’s comment that women should “avoid dressing like sluts” in order to stay safe, SlutWalk is a call to arms to challenge the culture of victim blaming.

Participants should wear whatever they feel expresses their message best and whatever they are comfortable in. Some signs will be provided, but we encourage participants to make their own as well!
