Allerton Park hosting Lunar New Year event on February 4th

Did you know that it’s the year of the rooster? Me neither. Luckily, thanks to the good folks at Allerton Park and the U of I’s Asian American Cultural Center, I now know, and can celebrate accordingly.

Allerton will be throwing a party to celebrate the occasion, kicking off at 5 p.m. on February 4th. Rooms thoughout the mansion and in the grounds’ various guest houses will be available on a first come, first served basis. Lunar New Year

February 4 @ 5:00 PM – February 5 @ 12:00 PM

Come celebrate the Year of the Rooster at Allerton’s Lunar New Year celebration, in collaboration with the University of Illinois’ Asian American Cultural Center. Start the evening in the Mansion’s Library with a presentation on the history of the Lunar New Year, as well as an overview of Asian influences in Allerton artwork. Then, enjoy a short festive performance from the Champaign-Urbana Chinese Folkdance Club before dinner in the Carriage House with guest Chef Kit Lee. After a continental breakfast the next morning, bundle up for a Garden Tour and view some of the Allerton statuary with Asian influences.

Double Occupancy (2/room): $180/couple
Single Occupancy (1/room): $143/person
Seminar + Dinner Only (No Overnight): $45/person

Please note: Overnight accomodations will be in the Mansion or a guest house on the estate. Rooms will be assigned on a “first come, first served” basis.
