40 North | 88 West announces the 11th Annual Boneyard Arts Festival

From the press release:

Presented annually by 40 North | 88 West and sponsored by The News-Gazette and Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, the Boneyard Arts Festival has grown into an “open source” festival that Champaign County residents have truly made their own. The 40 North Boneyard Arts Festival is an annual four-day event showcasing the broad range of creative activity flourishing in our community. Its goal is to bring together local artists and businesses for a special event showcasing the arts of Champaign County.

The Boneyard Arts Festival features over 100 different venues — both indoors and out — where residents and visitors alike can enjoy an incredibly diverse range of performance, spoken and visual art offered by hundreds of artists from all backgrounds. More than a traditional arts walk, the Boneyard is a unique countywide celebration that takes place in a wide variety of venues — both traditional (galleries & museums) and non-traditional (salons & dress shops) — and features the work of literally hundreds of artists.

Boneyard Arts Festival District Days:

Thursday, April 11 – UI Campus

Friday, April 12 – Champaign and Urbana

Saturday, April 13 – Champaign and Urbana

Sunday, April 14 – Out & About (Fisher, Homer, Mahomet, Rantoul, Urbana, Champaign)

The Boneyard Arts Festival is bluegrass in Homer, a cappella singers in downtown Urbana, a film festival in Champaign, tea ceremonies on the U of I campus, glass blowing and graphic design, puppets and painting, juggling and jewelry, photography, ceramics and so much more. 40 North invites artists to partner with local businesses, arts organizations, nonprofits, schools or parks in hosting a performance or display of work and demonstrate how the arts stimulate both cultural and economic development. Come and join the celebration!

The official Boneyard Arts Festival printed map and venue listings will be inserted into the Thursday, April 11 edition of The News-Gazette. Venues, artists and events are also listed on our website.

Festival attendees can vote for their favorite venue by texting “venue” then the number of the venue they wish to vote for to 24587. The favorite overall venue will receive free 2014 Boneyard registration.
