The Overture: Nov. 23 – 29

WHAT: Rusalka, Last Legs, The Diamond Stretch, Panel Van, Excuse for War, burnoutbright

WHERE: Canopy Club

WHEN: Friday, November 26th at 8:00 p.m.

Rusalka are playing their first show in C-U in ages, and the post-rockers well worth seeing before they disappear for another four months (check the Accent EP here if you need more convincing). Supporting is a laundry list of area acts. This is an interesting show in that most of the bands on it are from the smaller communities surrounding Champaign-Urbana (Mahomet and Panel Van call Mahomet home, Excuse for War are from Monticello, etc). Rusalka and Panel Van will also perform the following night at Red Herring with Mammoths and Greenwood.

WHAT: The Band Geeks, Eureka Sky, Waiting on Winter, Oblivion Oasis, Bad Catman, Mondegreen, Ryan/Travis, Large Ark

WHERE: The Iron Post

WHEN: Saturday, November 27th at 5:00 p.m.

No, we aren’t sure what Bad Catman are doing on this bill either (every other band on it appears to made up of high-schoolers. Looks like this marathon show should be a solid time regardless, though.

WHAT: The Sewing Machine War, DeathTram, Morgan Orion

WHERE: Mike ‘N Molly’s

WHEN: Saturday, November 27th at 9:00 p.m.

The Sewing Machine War are a midwestern indie-pop band playing at Mike ‘N Molly’s. Sound familiar? Pick up a copy of the new DeathTram while you’re there, and be sure to say hello to Morgan Orion as well.
