If you managed to grab a ticket to this show on Tuesday night at Cafeteria & Company, you are in luck. They went fast, but this is a definite highlight of the week in music here in C-U. You most likely know Bazan from his past project Pedro the Lion, and he’s currently on a living room tour over the next few months. Tickets are sold out, but if you’re lucky, and have a friend who has an extra, don’t pass it up.

WHAT: Wick-It the Instigator, Trinketz, Adamosity, Drox

WHERE: The Canopy Club ($10 advance/$12 door)

WHEN: Thursday, March 20th at 9 p.m.

Mash-up artist Wick-It the Instigator is back in Urbana at the Canopy Club this week, and he’s touring in support of his Beatles/Beastie Boys tribute. He just finished up at SXSW this past week and makes his way north to C-U.

Luciferian Rock n Roll” outfit Airacobra is joined by Daemonweed and local metal outfit Eminent Slaughter for a night of loudness on Thursday night at Cowboy Monkey.

WHAT: Chicago Farmer, Jaik Willis

WHEN: Friday, March 21st at 9 p.m.

Cody Diekhoff, aka Chicago Farmer, heads to the Canopy Club on Friday with Jaik Willis. He has a handful of dates lined up throughout Illinois in the month of March, which you can check out here. Check back later this week for a preview of the show.

WHAT: Sun Stereo, A Cool Hand

WHEN: Friday, March 21st at 10 p.m.

Sun Stereo are taking the stage at Cowboy Monkey this Friday. They recently released a new track called “dance mf” over at their Bandcamp a few weeks back, so check that out and heck back later this week for an interview with Kelly McMorris to preview the show.

WHERE: Error Records ($5)

Bloomington punk outfit Dripping Slits make their way over to C-U for a show at Error Records on Saturday. They released their most recent album near the end of last year called Krokodil RockThey’re joined by locals Los Assparados and Iowa’s The Easy Mark.

WHAT: Eminent Slaughter vs. Latem, Witchweed, Ode Vinter vs. Orator, Hermit Hill

WHERE: The Canopy Club ($6)

Full-blown metal battle at the Canopy Club on Saturday evening. You can see the bands that are facing off above, and for $6, that’s a solid deal if you’re up for it on Saturday night.

WHAT: The Fights

WHERE: The Iron Post ($6)

WHEN: Saturday, March 22nd at 9 p.m.

The Iron Post is playing host to music and comedy on Saturday night. Alt-country outfit The Fights will be the musical entertainment, and Andrew Voris and Kyle Scanian will be the comedic relief for the night. Solid mix going on in downtown Urbana.

WHAT: Thundertruck, Lonely Trailer, Acme Principle

WHERE: Cowboy Monkey ($5)

Three really good locals are taking the stage on Saturday at Cowboy Monkey. A bunch of skuzzed out rock ‘n roll music to get your night going. Thundertruck has been working on some new material, and I would imagine they will be putting those tracks on display on this night.

WHAT: Pocket Vinyl

WHERE: indi go Artist Co-op

WHEN: Sunday, March 23rd at 7 p.m.

Pocket Vinyl is a duo that consists of painting and piano performance. Eric Stevenson and Elizabeth Jancewicz make up the group, and you can expect a preview of this show later in the week from us as well.

WHAT: Carte De Visite, Single Player, The King Has Won!

WHERE: Error Records ($5)

WHEN: Sunday, March 23rd at 7:30 p.m.

Belleville indie-punk outfit Carte De Visite put out an EP with a handful of tracks last year, and they’re coming through C-U on Sunday evening. They’re joined by Single Player, who put out a really great LP last year, and The King Has Won!.
