Dubstep heavyweight Excision will be playing for another sell-out crowd over at The Canopy Club to start the week off. There is sure to be some heavy-hitting bass as well as some sweet visuals like the one in this video.

Another sweet show lined up for Monday night over at the Institute 4 Creativity in Downtown Champaign. Drunk Uncle is the headliner – they are an emo band on tour coming to us from New Hampshire. They are joined by local punk band Old Fox Road, local emo band Euriah, and Mario Cannamela.

Popular local funk-soul band Church Booty will be featured in this week’s edition of Summer Camp Music Wednesdays over at The Canopy Club- so go out and see them for a mere $3.

Another edition of the Solo Showcase is happening this Thursday at Mike N Molly’s. This one will feature David King, Jared Grabb, John Coppess, Nika Nemirovsky, and Emmett Kuchenbrod.

It’s not every day… or year that a kpop musician comes to C-U, while Microdot isn’t exactly G-Dragon, he does seamlessly change between singing/rapping in Korean and English, and the kpop influence shines through in the chorus of songs like “Celebrate”

What: Between Fate & Fearless, with While Heroes Sleep, Behold the Catalyst, and Plymouth

Where: The Accord ($8)

When: Friday, March 18th at 8 p.m.

Come out to The Accord on Friday night if you are in the mood for some metal music from the likes of Between Fate & Fearless– a group coming to us from Canton, IL, and While Heroes Sleep from Danville, supported by Behold the Catalyst and Plymouth.

When: Friday, March 18th at 9:30 p.m.

That 1 Guy brings his unique one-man future-funk show to The Canopy Club on Saturday night. He is known for using homeade instruments like the “magic pipe” to create his unique sound. Get a feel for what his live performance is like by watching this video.

What: Andru Bemis

Where: The Iron Post ($5)

When: Friday, March 18th at 9 p.m.

Banjo troubadour Adru Bemis comes to us from Michigan to play some folk and bluegrass tunes at The Iron Post this Friday. Also playing will be the Hot Iron String Band– a local bluegrass band that consistently puts on great shows around town, as well as local country duo The Legend of Levi Morgan.

What: Lonely Trailer, with Wood Chickens, Shivering Timbers, and Table Talk

Where: Mike N Molly’s ($7)

When: Friday, March 18th at 9 p.m.

Locals Lonely Trailer are headlining this one over at Mike N Molly’s. They are joined by Wood Chickens– a group from Madison, WI that are described as being “acid-barn” psych (I’m not sure what that means but I like the mental image that it conjures up). Also playing will be Shivering Timbers, a folk-rock group from Ohio, and table talk, a local up and coming folk group.

What: Waterfowl, with Flamingo, Mawcrest, and Our Landmark

Where: Cowboy Monkey ($7)

When: Friday, March 18th at 9 p.m.

Local folk-rock group Waterfowl are headlining this pre-spring break bash over at Cowboy Monkey on Friday night. Joining them will be Our Landmark, Flamingo, and Mawcrest.

Rumor has it that local indie-rock group Again is Already‘s debut album is nearly finished- they just released the single “A Rough Framework”. Also playing on Saturday night will be Blood Red Boots, Slick Lisp, and Mouse Corn.

Cavetone Records is celebrating 8 years of existence with a little help from groups like the Apathy Wizards, The Ex-Bombers, and The Down-fi.
