Solid early week show lined up at Error Records again this week, featuring a handful of noise rock bands. Wisconsin’s Falter tops the party, joined by a couple of C-U noise/drone bands in Jeremiah Fisher and Polypsis. Three others are set to perform as well, including Plagues, Clear Days Always, and Gutter or Death, all out of Michigan.

The Champaign-Urbana Singer-Songwriter Collective series continues this week. Local acoustic rock outfit Pedestrians holds down the first spot, with additional help from Tessa Turner to round things out.

WHAT: Cody & the Gateway Drugs, Susie & The Shy Guys

Acoustic outfit Cody & the Gateway Drugs headline this show at Mike ‘N Molly’s later this week alongside Susie & The Shy Guys. Katie had a chance to talk to lead singer Cody Sokolski prior to their show on Thursday, so be on the lookout for that piece later in the week.

WHAT: Brighter Arrows, Enta, Cassius, Hometown Heavyweights

WHEN: Friday, July 19th at 8 p.m. 

Brighter Arrows are back in Urbana this week after performing there in April for the inaugural Skeletal Lightning Festival. Ben had some great things to say about their show then, and he spoke with the band prior to their appearance as well. Check both of those articles out to prepare. Joining in is post-hardcore studs Enta, newer math-rockers Cassius, and Hometown Heavyweights.

EDITOR’S PICK: SUN STEREO, GROOD, BONES JUGS N HARMONY
Cowboy Monkey ($7) — Friday, July 19th at 9 p.m.

One of the more consistently solid acts in C-U headlines this bill over at Cowboy Monkey for this week’s pick. Sun Stereo have been hard at work writing and recording their new record, as well as doing some video work in the meantime as well. Bones Jugs N Harmony have been hard at work as well, releasing their first recording, called Episode One, today. Check it out here. Sun Stereo performed with Chicago’s Grood recently, and they’re bringing it all back down to C-U this week.

WHAT: Champaign Music Festival

WHERE: Downtown Champaign (free)

Champaign Park District has put together a music festival for this upcoming Saturday happening all around Downtown Champaign. Some notable acts include Delta Kings, Cody Sokolski, James Wesley, amongst a bunch of others. Check out the Facebook event linked above to see all the acts.

WHAT: 2194, Estates, Crank Wizards, Diners, Dogbreth

WHERE: Error Records ($5)

WHEN: Saturday, July 20th at 7 p.m.

Another cool show lined up at Error on Saturday night. A handful of touring acts all stacked into one bill, including post-hardcore crew 2194, and a really great slowcore band Estates from Wisconsin. Dogbreth and Diners are on tour from Arizona and make their way through. Lone local on the bill is Crank Wizards, performing live for the first time.
