They are apparently the house band at The Illini Inn, which explain’s the local blues rock band’s name, but this show’s at Canopy Club.

The 92s’ Dan Durley, local alt guys Feral States, Motes and Pinko make up the lineup for the latest Undercut Collective show meant to be an all-ages space for teens to enjoy local music.

Local country-rock favorites Neoga Blacksmith play with Penny Serfs and In Heat.

When members of Chicago bands Tortoise, The Cocktails and Shrimp Boat came together to form a new group, of course it would jazzy indie rock band The Sea and Cake. Even better, the local support on their Canopy Club comes from the shoegazey-indie combo of Withershins and Wicked Walls.

The Loose Cobra is Matt Talbott of HUM’s bar/venue in Tolono, and they’re featuring a couple of cool bands on Friday night. In case you missed it, we posted about Cloakroom’s track that features Talbott not too long ago. Solid show to see if you’ve yet to visit the Loose Cobra.

Local Black Metal guys Ode Vinter are releasing a new album, Obsidian Tomb, and throwing a CD release show for it. I don’t know about you, but I think it’s pretty rad that the cvlt is alive and well here in C-U, and this band continues to put out music. Plus the rest of the lineup ain’t too shabby either.


WHAT: Bones, Jugs and Harmony, Tyrannosaurus Chicken

Local folks Bones, Jugs and Harmony invite dynamic Alabama folk duo Tyrannosaurus Chicken to town to play two sets each.

WHAT: Sunshine Daydream, The Fights, Mike and Olivia

WHEN: Saturday, December 13th, 9 p.m.

Sunshine Daydream, a Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia cover band, are stopping by Cowboy Monkey to play with Mike and Olivia and The Fights, who are always a treat to see.

WHEN: Saturday, December 13th, doors at 9 p.m., show at 10 p.m.

It’s “A Church Booty Christmas,” which I bet will entail some festive holiday songs, originals, as well as some crowd-favorite non-holiday covers by Church Booty.

Local cabaret troupe Carnivale Debauche, Mary Vo & Alexandra Hutton, CU Drag Stars, Kenna Mae Reiss, Naylor Vega perform to benefit the Greater Community Aids Project.
