Andrew Binder Trio

Every Monday at the Rose Bowl, come hang out with some great musicians. A sort of open mic meets song share, you can expect a variety of music and performers.

JVR3 returns after two years, with Jenelle Orcherton on alto saxophone, Andrey Gonçalves on bass, and leader Jamie Ryan on drums.

Space Port

A big ole lineup of local jazz greats, Space Port brings jazz fusion with some funk mixed in as well.

Big Daddy Pride

Rose Bowl Tavern // free // 5 p.m.

Big Daddy Pride performs at Rose Bowl for americana happy hour, with special guests Clayton Burke and Nicholas “Hot Knife” Stine.

Immersion Festival: DJ Quad

Rose Bowl Tavern // free // 9 p.m.

Immersion Fest kicks off at Rose Bowl with DJ Quad playing the original quadraphonic mix of Dark Side of the Moon alongside a liquid light show. 

FRIDAY, August 19th

Jeff Helgesen Quintet

Rose Bowl Tavern // free // 5 p.m.

Local trumpet guru Jeff Helgesen performs at the Rose Bowl with his stellar quintet, bringing you hard bop of the 1960s.

Josh Caterer Trio

Brass Rail // $15 // 7:30 p.m.

Known for his work in Chicago punk band Smoking Popes, Josh Caterer has a new solo album out, The Hideout Sessions. He’ll be performing with his trio. 

Decadents

Rose Bowl Tavern // free // 8 p.m.

Rock band Decandents will be playing a set at Rose Bowl, for a night of classic and old school style rock. 

Yellow Ostrich, Bathtub Cig, LLYN

Loose Cobra // $15 // 8 p.m.

Indie rock band Yellow Ostrich is joined by self described “depression pop” artist Bathub Cig. Opening the show is C-U’s dream pop band LLYN. 

Luma City

NOLA’s // free // 8 p.m.

Out back at NOLA’s, Soundscapes will drench the walls in projections as DJs and musicians provide the tunes. Part of Immersion Festival. 

Soul Shakedown with DJ LEGTWO

Rose Bowl Tavern // free // 10 p.m.

Late inside at Rose Bowl, Larry Gates, aka DJ LEGTWO will be spinning funk and soul favorites.

SATURDAY, August 20th

Immersion Festival Day 3

Cohen Building // free // 10 a.m.

An interactive sound gallery can be explored at Cohen Building on Saturday, with synthesizers, drum machines, theremin, multi-person jam stations, and more.

Van De Pants

Rose Bowl Tavern // free // 3 p.m.

An exciting afternoon of funk awaits you at Rose Bowl this Saturday. Van De Pants plays classic funk, “ala The Meters.” Guitar, bass, keys, drums, come vibe.

The Dirty Feathers, Big Daddy Pride and The East Side Five, Sweetmelk

A killer lineup for Saturday evening with these three groups. Plus, Sweetmelk will be making their full band debut. 

Modern Drugs, Curb Service

Shinrin Onyoku

Shinrin Onyoku returns to Japanese Gardens, with musical guest DJ Van Paugam, playing 70s and 80s Japanese city pop.
